Who Can Take This Course?

Open to everyone, this course is especially designed for:

  • Those who would like to train as Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga teachers but do not have a yoga teacher qualification

  • Those who are interested in following a 200-hour yoga teacher course

  • Anyone who wants to know more about yoga

 

Our Approach ​

The course will look at the basics of what Yoga is and the ancient philosophy behind it.

You will learn some key postures from each of the main groups, including standing poses, forward and back bends, twists, sun salutations and simple inversions.

We will also look at the importance of alignment in all postures, how to work towards experiencing ease and stability in your poses and the importance of the breath.

You will be encouraged to ask as many questions as you like throughout the course so you will gain a clear understanding of all aspects of yoga practice.

Open to everyone, this course is especially designed for those interested in following the Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga teacher training programme. Suitable for anyone who wants to know more about yoga.

FULLY ACCESSIBLE: Both the course and the studio venue are fully accessible to all, including those in wheelchairs and/or with mobility issues.

 

Course Content

This 8-hour course will cover:

  • Overview of yoga – philosophy, history, types of yoga, benefits of yoga

  • The importance of the breath – full yogic breathing

  • Overview of yoga asanas (postures) and introduction to some basic postures and movements, including a series of poses to free up the major joints in the body

  • Introduction to simple meditation techniques and pranayama (breathing exercises) and their benefits

  • Introduction to Savasana, the final relaxation pose

 

Where?

The course runs at the Minded Institute, Arlington House, 220 Arlington Road, Camden Town, London NW1 7HE. The venue has full disabled access and can easily be reached by public transportation.
